Sassy was the first born and was the only orange belton in the litter. I just love her solid dark pigment and lovely expression. Sassy went to her first show in Cincinnati, Ohio. After a long drive to Seattle, a big plane trip, and sorting out the hotel room with some new doggy buddies, she placed 3rd in the 6-9 month puppy bitch class in an entry of 17. As this was at the ESAA National Specialty, it was a nice win for this sweetheart. It was a grand adventure for this girl.
Sassy had a practice time at a couple of sanction matches and won 2 Group 1sts and one Best in Match. She went to a set of shows in Vernon BC, and as the only english setter and a class bitch, she made the cut in a big Sporting Group. Sassy included in her Canadian Title a nice Group 3rd win under Terry Carter (3 points). The following day, under judge Lorriane Boutwell from the US, she won a Group 4th (3 points). She completed her Canadian Championship at the Renaissance Dog Shows in April with 2 additional 2 point wins. Sassy had a great weekend at the Williamette Valley English Setter Fanciers first Specialty and the All Breed Shows following in Oregon in June of '09. After winning the bred by Class at the Specialty, she went onto Reserve Winners Bitch and Best Bred By Exhibitor in Specialty. The following day she won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 4 point Major! Sunday garnered her another Reserve Winners Bitch to a Major, altogether a great weekend for this young girl.
Sassy now has finished her US Championship! She picked up a 4 point major at the Clackamus shows in June of 2009 with a great entry, and 2 more majors (both 5 points) at the Williamette Valley English Setter Fanciers Specialty Show weekend in June 2010. The first day of the all breed show supported by WV, she won Winners Bitch, and the second day she repeated this win! Fabulous entry, she showed her heart out and looked wonderful. I am so proud of her! Right after she had a back injury chasing quail that she has since recovered from. Her final 4 point major came from the shows in Coeur D'Alene ID in July of 2011. All of her wins came from the Bred By Exhibitor Class, arguably the hardest way to get a title, as the competition is fierce and the quality high. I am so proud, she will be included in the Bred By Invitational at Eukanuba for this!
We have some great news! Sassy has spent some time at Sunsetter ES in Winnipeg, MB. Shawn and Nadeen and their family have had a great time with her, including showing her to a Group 3 at the Manitoba Sporting Dog Specialty, a Group 4th, and a trip to the ESAA National. She showed beautifully for them, but has come into season again, and we anticipate that she will have a big shed of her belly coat. This makes for a challenging time of showing for most of next year, but we didn't want to put her on drugs to keep the coat. We have decided to send Nick to live with Shawn and Nadeen for showing in 2012, and Sassy is now a Berkeley CA girl, living with Susan Spann. Susan owned a female ES from Legends ES, as well as Irish Setters and Gordon Setters. She was looking for a new companion and the opportunity arose for she and Sassy to become a team. We are excited for both of them.
At the May Gold Country English Setter Fanciers Specialty, Sassy completed her Canine Good Citizen title, which is great! Susan has had her at many training classes and they just love working together. We are luck to be able to see Sassy again when we are in California. She is such a great girl!
Sassy and Susan came for a visit to Canada in August 2013, and travelled with us to the shows in Calgary. We are happy to say that Sassy added a CGN to her name as well! She is such a good ambassador for the breed.
In March of 2015 Sassy completed her Junior Hunter title with 4 straight passes, we are so proud of this girl, and right before her 8th Birthday!
